Seconds Matter: Earthquake Early Warning

August 15 @ 1:00 pm - 2:00 pm

Valcom's on premises earthquake early warning system webinar with Dr. De Groot

Seconds Matter: How Valcom’s Earthquake Early Warning System Enhances Facility Safety

Join Valcom and Dr. Robert de Groot from the U.S. Geological Survey for a closer look at Earthquake Early Warning (EEW) technology. Learn how Valcom’s on-site alerting systems, powered by USGS ShakeAlert®, detect earthquakes and send alerts through speakers, strobes, LED signs, and desktop notifications. These systems help people act before the shaking begins.

Dr. De Groot will explain how earthquake detection works and share real-world examples from California, Oregon, and Washington. He’ll also introduce free USGS resources for schools. These materials help administrators, teachers, and students prepare for earthquakes using age-appropriate lessons. Discover how combining technology and education can enhance safety and readiness within your district and community.

Valcom’s Sales Engineer, Dan Dalton, will guide attendees through an overview of Valcom’s Earthquake Early Warning Systems, known as VEEWS, as well as the available materials and training.
